Retrospective announcement coverage published by GuideInThailand on 17 August 2026.

Bangkok is preparing to host the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings from 12–18 October 2026 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). The gathering is expected to bring finance ministers, central-bank leaders, media and other delegates to the city.

Where visitors may notice an effect

QSNCC sits beside its MRT station and near the Asok, Sukhumvit, Khlong Toei and Benjakitti areas. Hotel demand, security arrangements, traffic and restaurant bookings may be stronger around the venue. Access controls could change during the meeting period.

Practical planning

  • Use MRT where practical and allow time for screening or changed pedestrian routes.
  • Book important business meals and nearby accommodation early.
  • Do not schedule a tight road transfer across the venue area.
  • Follow official event and transport notices rather than assuming every facility is public.

Most Bangkok attractions should continue normally, so leisure visitors do not need to avoid the city. The sensible response is localized planning around the convention district.
