Last reviewed 17 August 2026. Entry requirements are unusually easy to misunderstand because several separate decisions occur at once: airline document checks, visa eligibility, arrival-card submission and the final immigration decision at the border.
1. Check the passport you will actually use
Confirm validity, physical condition and blank-page needs with an official Thai mission or the e‑Visa route that applies to you. A damaged passport or a mismatch between bookings and passport details can disrupt travel even when nationality is normally eligible for simple entry.
2. Establish your visa route
Use the official Thai e‑Visa portal or the relevant Thai embassy/consulate to determine whether the trip uses visa exemption, visa on arrival or a visa obtained before departure. Match the answer to your nationality, passport, location, purpose and stay—not a generic blog table.
3. Check carrier and onward-travel requirements
Airlines may ask for evidence that you can enter Thailand and leave within the permitted period. Keep onward-travel and accommodation details accessible. If the trip includes separate tickets or a transit country, check those requirements independently.
4. Submit the TDAC
The Immigration Bureau says non-Thai nationals entering by air, land or sea complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within the three days before arrival. The TDAC is not a visa. Use the official government domain, review passport data carefully and save the result.
5. Prepare supporting information
- Passport and any required visa.
- TDAC confirmation.
- Arrival, onward-travel and accommodation details.
- Evidence requested for the specific visa or exemption route.
- Travel-insurance and emergency-contact details for your own use.
6. Recheck close to departure
Rules and temporary public-health or security measures can change. Recheck official sources before the cancellation deadline for important bookings and again shortly before departure. Screenshots from an old social post are not reliable evidence of the current rule.
At immigration
Answer questions accurately and keep documents organized. Admission is determined by the competent Thai authorities. Check the permitted-stay information recorded at entry and seek official clarification immediately if it appears incorrect.
